Words and phrases I renounce and don't renounce

I hereby announce I will no longer descend into my righteous mode where I use such words as filthy (no more filthy this, filthy that) or 'rot in hell' or 'may you be burned at the stake' or 'you should be taken outside and whipped in front of your mother'... No more. No more of that. Never again... 'Satanic'? yes. I will use satanic still. 'High priests of the devil's Critical Text manuscripts', phrases such as that, yes. They are still in play. 'Village of Morality Christians', of course. No reason to toss that one. 'Pointy-shoed mockers'? yes. Talking about people 'scratching their wrists' as they expound Dispensationalism? Yes. That is still in. Talking about people who would have been 'sucking the Pope's ring' if confronted with decisions the heroic reformers were confronted with? Yes, I will continue to use such a phrase. It's a perfectly good phrase.

Sounds like a step in the right direction. It's good to both be passionate for the truth and to bridle one's tongue.

May God grant us all more godly, more edifying, etc. words to speak.

When I read something I've written and wince, that's not good. It doesn't mean I renounce the subject matter or beliefs!

But (rhetorical question) have you ever seen that Werner Herzog domumentary on Timothy Treadway where he's alone in the wildnerness, with a camera, and he sometimes sets the camera up and stands in front of it and rants out-of-control? I'm like that here sometimes. I'm in the wilderness, or, on the Way (when most everybody else is in a detour like the Village of Morality), and I rant out-of-control.

I'm easily provoked too. True believers are vulnerable like that. "Kay jay veyeeee!! Ha ha. 'El, if it was done good'n 'nuf for Paul!!!" (roaring laughter from the James White contingent).
