First initial impression of Horton's systematic theology

After skimming some my first impression is this book (Horton's The Christian Faith) in no way 'supplants' Berkhof (as the initial pre-publication claims had it doing). Horton's book is more a "Hey, let's talk about theology..." type of composition. It's not doing the hard work a Berkhof does. Horton publishes about three books a year, and this book, the Christian Faith, will be probably just the first of three books he'll publish in 2011. I.e. it's not a seriously composed work. It's an informal, off the cuff, rap with his students. I.e. it meanders like conversation ("Which reminds me of something Dietrich Bonhoeffer said on this...")
