Placating the wobblies
Methinks a good majority of Christian 'scholars' confuse the temporal history of the 'church' with the history of redemption from eternity. Which causes them to think getting understanding of the faith is involved with knowing the political back-and-forths of Luther's involvement with Prussia.
But forget that. I wanted to write about the phenomenon that is: Placating the Wobblies.
Ever wonder why solidly grounded Christians desire to placate the wobblies? (You know, wobblies...those types who just never quite take a stand for the truth, and even if they do today, to some degree, they will be sure to come off it tomorrow, usually as a reaction from their fellow wobblies displeasure towards them for actually taking a stand for the truth.) Here's why God's elect attempt to placate the wobblies: because the wobblies represent the world, and the world is still a very powerful force in the lives of God's elect. God's elect are separate from the world, but still live in the world. So God's elect can find themselves getting weak and being obsequious towards the world in not wanting to upset people or what have you; and because God's elect usually only see overwhelming amounts of idiocy from the world, including regarding biblical doctrine, so when God's elect rarely do see one from the world expressing something that is close to actual truth God's elect want to 'not scare them off' or, worse, think: "Hey, that idiot almost agrees with biblical truth! We elect have been so lonely, here's one of 'them' from the world who is sort of almost saying something that is true. Oh, hallelujah!" So the elect placate the wobblies.
What God's elect should do is douse the wobblies with the flaming oil of biblical truth anytime the wobblies are dumb enough to get close to us. Wobblies are death.
