"Paul is not engaging in a proper hermeneutic there, students..."

One glaring thing that convicts academic churchian Christianity is this: when your 'hermeneutic' says that the 'hermeneutic' of the apostles was 'wrong' you need to look in the mirror and reassess, pilgrim.

First, try seeing the Bible as something that is above you.

My post condemns both the enemies of Peter Enns as well as Peter Enns and his ilk. A lowly Christian - a prophet, priest, and king - reads the Word of God as if it is the very Word of God, inspired of the Holy Spirit, as something that is *above* us. The enemies of Peter Enns, as well as Peter Enns and his ilk read the Bible as if it is a document they are to determine the meaning of (as in be the *determiner* of its meaning). Oh, but it's *OK* because they have seminary degrees and stuff. (And Critical Text Westcott and Hort 'bibles' that are like play-doh in their vain/inane hands...)
