After reading so much of evil (a history of world communism, Comrades, by Robert Service) I take solace in reading the Bible, continuing my 7th complete reading.

An example of what I mean is seeing God's providence at work in history when Jacob's sons have just avenged the defiling of their sister Dinah, and Jacob worries that now they will be surrounded and attacked. Overwhelmed. Yet God in His providence puts the terror of God in the surrounding cities and protects Jacob and his children. So when you remember providence - the fact of it - and how God is in control over history and the destiny of each and every human being, it provides solace. The devil and his people can only do what God allows him and his people to do, and if the devil now is entering and operating in spheres heretofore off-limits to him then it's for a reason and in keeping with God's overall plan of redemption.

Remember, the devil and his people are mockers and *taunters* as well as being tempters. When God allows them to be on the move and getting seeming victories they are insufferable little hell trolls. Remember God is in control, and His providence does not lead to victory for the devil.
