Leviathan

Read Job 38 to the end of the book every now and then to get correctly oriented regarding our Holy and awe inspiring Creator.

Job 41 is a description of Satan in the figure of Leviathan. I saw this for the first time tonight. I wondered if commentators have seen the same. I went to Matthew Henry, and he did not see Satan in the chapter. This surprised me. I haven't checked any other commentaries. I'm sure it's probably a minority reading.

I did find this surprisingly bold article though. The author I think is directly on-the-mark and boldly so and takes it to the limit.

Job 41 not only describes Satan but in the most subtle way puts the hand wringing over the so-called problem of evil to bed.

Now you point it out, it seems obvious. Scripture interprets scripture. Also read Rev 12, Psalm 74

Isaiah 27 [1] In that day the LORD with His severe sword, great and strong, Will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan that twisted serpent; And He will slay the reptile that is in the sea.

I think a lack of appreciation for Gods Sovereignty but mostly a complete rejection of it, leads the majority to misinterpret scripture. It would seem that only the regenerate can fully accept Gods Sovereignty and things of that nature. -W
