The Devil in the doctrine

"...covenant theology means that God has entered into a relationship with you and with your children. God does not deal with us only as individuals; our God is a God of families." - Kevin de Young

This is absolute, total bullshit. It's why churches are so world-fearing and shallow.

Why am I so passionate about this kind of thing? Because regeneration by the word and the Spirit is the main thing. These churchian types either don't get that or hate it.

When they hold to infant baptism they gunk up biblical doctrine solely to hold up that particular doctrinal fetish. It's ritualism. They believe ritual regenerates.

So they end up promoting ad hoc junk doctrine like you can be in the Covenant of Grace and not in it at the same time. Hence God is a God of families. This is worldly garbage. God regenerates individuals, not families.

1 Corinthians 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.

Sanctified or made holy is not the same as saved. These pastors must have a completely off the mark unbiblical world view for them to believe the spouse and children of a regenerate person would be saved through this relationship. From what I've read God sets them apart mainly for the sake of the marriage and the believing spouse. The holy spirit takes care of the unbelievers so they don't defile the believer.
