God will give the political left its reward

"French writer Raymond Aron has suggested that achieving the ostensible goals of the left without using the methods favored by the left actually provokes resentments:

In fact the European left has a grudge against the United States mainly because the latter has succeeded by means which were not laid down in the revolutionary code. Prosperity, power, the tendency towards uniformity of economic conditions - these results have been achieved by private initiative, by competition rather than State intervention, in other words by capitalism, which every well-brought-up intellectual has been taught to hate."

That quote is from Thomas Sowell's Intellectuals and Society, pg. 105.

Now look at what has been happening in the United States the last 40 or so years. The left has undermined at foundational levels our free market and our institutions, our education system and our rule of law. And now they've achieved the bizarre feat of getting one of their own into the White House, and he has proceeded to spend in hundreds of billions - ultimately trillions - on nothing, simply putting us into a debilitating debt.

Just the bizarre fact that Europe today is trying to dig itself *out of* the very socialist policies the piece of shit leftist in the White House today is actively burying us under shows how desperate the left is to destroy what is good. And those America-hating leftists in Europe are laughing at what is currently happening in the United States knowing *it is their own policies that are taking us under.*

And yet they will say that it is capitalism and free markets and competition and private initiative itself that has caused the problems. In other words, in their lies and behavior they don't want prosperity, they want tyranny and shit elevated above life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

These leftists whether leaders, dupes, useful idiots, whatever category they fall into, are motivated by the spirit of evil. The spirit of Satan. They are evil souls. They will receive their reward when they die. All I can say is: have fun. Hope it was worth it, because you've bought an eternity of horror for your efforts.

From a character in one of Gogol's stories...

"Gentlemen, this world of ours is a bore!"

[Why did I post that? Now I have to post the caveat: Remember the old Chinese saying (they would know) about being careful about wanting to live in 'interesting' times...

Probably the world is not a bore if you have some 'game' in the world of sex. I'll use that sport's term. Though the illusion turns bad pretty quick.

Perhaps being involved in some enterprise where your interest and skills and other abilities and passions are able to be fully engaged makes the world for you not a bore.

Part of the reason that the Gogol character is saying that this world of ours is a bore, though, is because the illusion of sex wears badly and hits limits, and because it's difficult to be involved in something where you are able to be fully engaged with enthusiasm mentally and emotionally and physically (fate, circumstance, providence, time, i.e. not knowing what interests you until you are stuck in some life pattern that makes it difficult to follow your interests), energy, etc.

A host of positive thinking speakers will say "That is the thing! You must make the circumstances and achieve the possibilities for yourself!!"

Yet think of this as well: education (real gaining of understanding) tends to reduce the possibilities or reduce the field for things to interest us. I wrote that awkwardly, but you get the gist. For instance: you can't write a bestseller if you are above the level of the content of the bestseller (and they by definition are shallow works). You just can't. You have to be stupid to write a bestseller, and exceptions to that rule are miniscule. Another example: you can't be a great athlete if you develop to the point where the pursuit of winning a competition seems stupid to you even if just a little bit.

Disciplined, orthodox (small 'o') mysticism is there for us bored, worldly 'failures.']

OK, call me a loser-whiner!

Knowing good and evil

Here is an insight to remember when explaining the plan of God to anyone.

God doesn't want robots. He wants His created beings to love Him, but He doesn't want it to be mere robotic love created in His beings by mere fiat. He wants it to be real.

Yet, many will object, if we can't even turn to God without Him drawing us, and we can't begin to love God without Him giving us the Spirit and a new heart, how is *that* real?

The difference is this: we have known good and evil.

Adam in the Garden, before his fall, did not know good and evil. The good angels don't know good and evil. Fallen man knows good and evil. This is how fallen man is different in God's creation. This is what makes our love for God real even though we are totally reliant on God for our regeneration and new heart and the presence of the Holy Spirit within us and everything that follows our regeneration.

Though we are reliant on God for our election, our regeneration, our new heart, our ability to have faith in His Son, everything...what makes us different from beings with a mere robotic love for God given us by fiat is the fact that we have known good and evil.

This is why the fall was necessary in God's plan of redemption.

Reading Middlemarch

George Eliot's (Mary Ann Evans) Middlemarch is on my list of ten iconic, canonic novels. I've decided to read it now.

Currently through page 1,026 (of 1,026).

It's a very engrossing novel. Critics say it unfolds more than pulling one along with plot interest, though the characters are interesting and one does get eager to see what will happen with them.

Eliot's main distinctive as a novelist is portraying psychological and emotional phenomena accurately and to a close degree.
